our local grocrey is giving away a turkey when u buy a shank ham can someone tell me what they mean when they shank ham and how to cook it

Shank hams are hams that have the lower end of the porks ankle attatched to them. You cook them just like you do a regular ham, except you may need to cook it longer because it is very thick. Tell your butcher to cut it off if you don't want it.

A cut of meat from the thigh of a hog ... from a hog's hind leg, generally from the middle of the shank bone to the aitch (hip) bone.

Cook this as you would a normal ham for the holidays. It is really good with pineapple slices, and cherry pie filling, and brown sugar. Baste it after it has baked for a while with the wonderful juices from the flavors of the cooking ham.

Shank ham is the bottom of the pigs leg and you can cook it in the oven roasted for about an hour at 200o

A shank ham is the top portion of the leg of a pig. poor pig!!
