I am prepared to break into his house and steal some of his expensive stuff to break even. How can I be subtle and assertive at the same time?

First of all,you need to let some stuff go. Its not worth losing your brother over something stupid. Just remind him that he owe you and talk to him. See if you and him can get so thing reasoning. Just don't do anything your going to wish you wouldn't.

Well, stealing his stuff isn't exactly subtle! Just lay it out straight-
the holidays are coming up and I need the money you owe me ASAP, so lets work out a payment plan. Hopefully he'll cooperate, and pay you back, ideally all at once, but maybe in installments, but at least you'll make a deal.

First of all, don't do that! I'd call him on the phone and just remind him How much he owes you and What he owes you for. and remember Be Polite! That's the key, and if he asks you for more money, just politely tell him that you won't borrow him anymore money until the other amount is payed.

Ask him for the money and then if she stalls, tell him you will file small claims court papers if need be. Tell him you feel taken advantage of and you don't want to have to do that since he is your brother, but you will do it to teach him some responsibility.

Are you really desperate for that money? Be a good brother & tell him it's a gift. Maybe someday he'll repay you on his own & it may be at a time you need it. Peace to your bros.

My brother owes me and half the world money and I bet I never see it again but what I told him is...if he doesn't pay it back then he doesn't get another cent from me.

Simply say, "You can pay me the money you owe me now or Judge Judy will MAKE you pay it, it's your choice?" Good-luck on such a sticky situation.
