As a busy RN on a high level of care nursing home unit, I sometimes feel stressed with multiple demands on my time and skills at once. When I start to feel this way, I stop for a moment, take two or three deep breaths and tell myself, This, too, shall pass. I will be off duty in (?) hours and can go home to whatever sounds comforting at the time, whether it is my bed, a nice hot shower, or a nice hot meal, or just a hug from my spouse. It usually helps me. I always try to stay relaxed at work, because stress is contagiious. If one worker is stressed and irritable, it isn't long before it has spread to the entire unit from top to bottom level. Even the residents can detect stress and it will affect their behaviors. Pretty soon you will be living in a zoo if you do not control the stress in your own mind and stay level-headed..
I have been fortunate enough to have a crew that respects my judgment and all of them prefer to work my weekend rather than the highly stressed nurse that works my weekend off. They have been arguing over who should get to work with me and who has to work with the other nurse. That is a great compliment to me.

Walk to lunch. I walk to subway for a sandwich, and the exercise relieves stress.

Exercise is a great stress reliever and also sex.

A good meal and a few glasses of wine or beer will also do.

I find stretching helps. Just having your hands reach towards your feet and hanging is good, Also I find that doing pushups against a wall helps. I try to do this 3x a day and also other stretching like from side to side.

Go to the gym on the way home.
Run at lunch.
Get up and walk around once an hour or so. Go chat with a friend.

I have to wait until the end of the day, after supper and bedtime for my wee one...I get on the treadmill and run, run, run just to feel those happy endorphines flowing through my body.
