Go to a computer store or an office supplies store and buy your computer and pay with a debit card. You can go to Costco, Best Buy, Circuit City, Staples, Sony Style Center -- all of which sells computers with NO deposit and accepts debit card
I have bought 3 computers and 2 laptops this year from Dell and Sony, and none of which asked me for a deposit.

I suggest Dell Direct, Kelkoo, MSN Shopping or eBay for online purchases. Also PC World, Staples, Woolworths or Currys.
