I am a member of an esoteric Order of Freemasonry, American Co-Masonry. I can tell you from my experience, and mine alone, that not all Masons are anything, especially when it comes to religion or politics. You see, those two subjects we do not bring up inside Lodge.

Yes, we do require a candidate for Initiation to affirm that he or she (yes, Co-Masonry does admit women as Brothers) believes in a Supreme Being. What the candidate calls that Being is a personal thing. We do not allow atheists in American Co-Masonry. Deist means a belief in God without the need for a religion. Some are that, I am sure. Some of my Brethren are of other religious belief.

Something some ardent fundamentalists of different religions say is wrong about Freemasonry is that we sit in Brotherhood with folks of many different religions and still call them Brother. I am reminded of the parable of the Good Samaritan. The Jews hated the Samaritans, I think you might recall. What was Jesus trying to teach there? Hmmm.

Anyway, some in my Lodge are Christian, some are of other faiths. All of us are Brothers. Feels good, actually.

Well to be a mason and not believe in things supernatural is silly. As far as Super natural events in the bible like walking on water etc I doubt with most. Maybe a fate of prophercy and return of christ maybe doubted by some.

Or you may find some that feel the actions done by jesus are comparable of moses which in turn are comparable to Solomon and Hiram which lastly is in turn like the rabbi who created a golemn.

Than you can break this down to one may feel they are legends andthe second thing these things are possible but nothing fancy of Jesus.

My above thoughts are speculative and I must state there is no way to wrap the frat in a whole opinion. Everyone believes different things. Now if you are poking at the grand understanding of masonry and the secrets and the concluding opinion that is a whole different subject matter.

And as Dan Brown said;
“My interest in secret societies is the product of many experiences, some I can discuss, others I cannot.”

The Masonic Lodge teaches that the gods of all religions are all contained within the Masonic "Great Architect of the Universe". Everybody prays to this GAOTU no matter who their personal god is. It's like relious vegetable soup.

Many of our founding fathers were Masons (many more than were Christians). Washington and Franklin were both Hiram Abiff's.

Freemasons require a belief in a deity, though they don't specify a certain religion or name to be used. My husband is a Mason and a Christian.
