The best music for a Christian to listen to is praise & worship music. But as a Christian I know I sometimes need a change of music. Country is indeed a conservative type of music, MUCH better than the trashy rap music that's out there. I don't believe there is anything wrong with listening to other music besides Christian music, just as long as it doesn't blasphemy God.

You can listen to any kind of music you like. Kirk Franklin does Christian hip-hop (check out Stomp). As long as you don't live the message of the wrong kind of hip hop. Any kind of song cam be made inappropriate. An example of a country song that may be inappropriate is "One Hot Momma" by Trace Adkins. If you know that listening to a certain kind of music causes you to want to sin, then don't listen to it. I love country, hip-hop, r&b, Christian, etc. and it all lives in harmony on my iPod. lol. If you feel guilty when listening to a certain song, then don't listen to it! That simple.

I say this as a Christian as well...God is more interested in your heart attitude than in what music you listen to. If you feel personally convicted by the Holy Spirit that you should not be watching a certain tv show or listening to a certain type of music, that's between you and God. Yes there are absolute standards of right and wrong but God is not going to strike you down for listening to Keith Urban or Shania Twain. But if you are being convicted about something, you best listen to God! lol Follow what Scripture says. Hope this helped.

COUNTRY MUSIC IS THE DRUG INDUCED BABBLINGS OF SATAN!!!!11
Seriously, though, no, there's nothing wrong with listening to Country. In fact, even though I really don't care for the genre, I really do respect the fact that it is the ONE form of music not affraid to affirm the existence of God/deal with religious (Satanism doesn't count) issues in a public theatre.
If your question was about, say... Death Metal, then maybe you'd have more people saying not to listen to it, but frankly, I don't think there's a form of secular music MORE condusive to Christianity.

First off, any music is better than hip hop! Secondly, it all depends on the words of the song...are they saying something dishonoring or honoring.

country is a great type of music to listen to. in my opinion it's a better option than some other genres of music. and there are tons of country songs that are actually considered to be christian songs and can be sung in church.

Be careful, if you play country music backwards, you get you wife back, your dog raises from the dead, and you find a job! ;)
