I am marrying a Brit, and its the same process. Go to the Immigration web site and read up on the K-1 visa. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis This is the only official site. Plenty of people will try to give advice that they think is accurate when laws concerning the k-1 are very distinct from other types of immigration. Its a lengthy, costly process,(as are all Immigration processes) and depending on when the visa numbers are availible, is when he will be able to be here legally. You don't have to buy any program. But having legal assistance with the forms or an advocacy/ charitable group (Some Catholic Social Services do this) is a plus. The forms are not confusing, but you will needed cashiers checks or money orders for the fees accompanying each form,, 2 passport photos taken of both of you within thirty days of the application, you will need a biographical for each of you with supporting documentation. The I-29F, A copy of his I-94 if he has entered legally, copies of your birthcertificates, ID, socials, Passports, divorce certificates if you were married, death certificate if you were widowed, and or any other supporting docummentation listed on the forms. From Mexico he will need a cartilla (Mexico's Army service) or a waiver. Every document and every money order or cashiers checks, should be photocopied in triplicate along with photos. The reason it is in triplicate is so that you always have two copies of your paperwork. One you carry with you to interviews and one put away safely. You could also send one copy to your fiance, in case he needs it. Generally his interview would be held in Ciudad Juarez unless he is already here. If he is here w/o inspection or overstayed a visa or entered illegally he may have to pay a fine or may have to stay out of the country 10 years. If he has been deported or under deportation, you will need a lawyer to perhaps get a pardon with Immigration. This will also depend on his background check. Good Luck

I doubt the program will help you. It is probably a rip-off. If you really intend to get married, it will be easier for him to obtain a green card (citizenship is different from this and isn't required to be legal). The best thing to do is to find the forms online and fill them out. This WIL NOT be a quick process. The website should have all the info you need.

That site should help a little.

You will be only wasting your money, the info. you need about this you can get it from the real deal, get it from USCIS, you can download the forms on line and if you have questions you can contact their costumer service department. Phone #: 1-800-375-5283. You wont have to pay anything extra but the filling fees. and if he comes as your fiance', it will take a few months after you guys get married for him to get his green card, and after being married for 3 years(if you are a US citizen) then he can apply for citizenship. The process to become a citizen is not as fast or easy like a lot of people mistakenly think. Good luck!

My husband is from Mexico. DO NOT waste your money on an on-line program when what you need is a pit bull Immigration attorney.
This process is not designed to happen. Its not only 'not easy' or 'easier', it is an impossibility. We have several to many friends & family members who have tried a varrietty of ways to come here legally and no one has been given that luxury! I hear that they do let people immigrate to the US although I have never personally ment ANYONE who did.
Take one of our married friends for example. They married in Mexico (big mistake!) and they applied for him to immigrate here. She was told by INS it would take 6 -9 months to get him leagal residencey so she came back to the US. They invested over $7000.00 complied with EVERYTHING INS asked of them and 4 years later he was denied legal entry into the US - for no reason at all!!! He did not have a criminal record, there is no logic to why he was denied.
In all honesty, you would do better to move there than to try to get him legal residencey here.
Good luck!!

Don't buy anything online. call USCIS for information on how to get your loved one legal. BUT, I am going to be honest with you, It is a long process. My husband is in Mexico, waiting to be approved, they promised us that it would be no longer than 6 months. It has been almost a year and he is still waiting.
