you need to take the child to the doctor ...this is a possible sign of infection.....are there any bite marks (like a spider bite) at one end or the other...usually these will start at the point of injury and lead towards the heart

she could have unknowlingly abbraised it or somthing. keep an eye on it and if any changes occure see a doc.

She probably scratched it on a stick or thorn while playing. Keep an eye on it, but is should be flatter and more "focused" tomorrow.
