What are you having a panic attack about? I suffer form Panic Disorder too. Trying to calm yourself down doesn't work. I've been through alot of therapy. Try to tell yourself that you are having a panic attack and you know it will not leave immediatly. You have to ride it out. Tell yourself that you are not thinking clearly right now and that it will pass. Try to accept the uncomfortable feelings at the moment. It will pass with time. Xanax works good too. LOL.

I used to have them. Here is what I used to do. Read these over and over again, slowly. Really think about them. If it gets really bad, have someone help you. Good luck.
Panic Rules
1. Feelings are normal bodily reactions.
2. Not harmful
3. Do not add frightening thoughts
4. Describe what is happening
5. Wait for fear to pass
6. Notice when it fades
7. It's an opportunity for growth
I'd rather embarrass myself than feel like this the rest of my life.

Hi there, I just laugh about my past 3 years of panic now. I was not able to go anywhere without carrying xanax. Fear of having another attack was the most important subject of my days. When i first found joe barry's web site i started to cry because of my happiness.

The last time I had a panic attack, this wonderful woman walked up to me (I was crying.. it was not pretty) and told me to sit down and picture myself like a tree. Breathe deeply and imagine that I'm spreading my roots into the ground. Stabilize yourself and relax. The visualization really helped me. I've used that technique for quite a long time and it always helps me.
Hope you can find something that works for you!

You may need to seek some type of professional help....local health dept, psychologist, or etc. They may teach you some coping techniques and make sure you don't need to be on meds also for a while. Good Luck! I know what you're going through. I have bipolar & anxiety disorder with excruciating migraines. I've had these for at least the last 21 years.

when you become anxious you breathe more rapidly and your blood becomes oxygen saturated. the best and quickest way to calm down is to put a paper or plastic bag over your mouth and nose and try to breathe normally. as the co2 level rises you will start to feel better. i had the same problem years ago and could find no reason for the panic attacks. i was cured by a hypnotist in one session. good luck.

ive sufferd from panic attacks for 2 years now.... to help control your breathing, and heart race,,, take in a breathe thru your nose for 4 seconds, and relase thru the mouth for 4 seconds... repaet for a few minutes.. panic attacks are horrible, i totally feel for you right now.. and im so sorry this is happening... try lighting a candle and staring at it... it helps , it reminds you the holy spirit is there and around you.. ive had it for years, and not much ive found has worked at all... panic attacks ARE the devil. IM SO SORRY you have them.

Breathe into a paper bag, force your shoulders down to where they belong because I bet they are up to your ears....most people start breathing fast and then that causes a host of other stuff from lack of oxygen in the blood...Just breath in long slow deep breaths and the attack will pass..

Are you familiar with phycho cybernectics? The simple technique of relaxing your body one part atta time, strictly with thought alone.
Depending on what occupies one's mind, the effect of which is either positve OR negative. And I contend ANYTHING is possible in one's mind!
