Yes.
Cats are cats and in her eyes you are just a big ugly cat.
The reason most cats love to be groomed is that thats what cats do to themselves all day. Thats why they like to be petted, they think its grooming. Start slowly, let her come to you, if all you can get in is one stoke of the brush at first, fine.
Never force the cat into this as you will push her away and things will only get worst.(the cat will stop seeing you as another cat)
Sybil (my cat) took about a year before she would jump into my lap and wanted to be groomed.(I couldn't even get close to her for about 2-3 months)
Cats can be trained, they just take a little longer than dogs.
Be patient, and Good Luck.

You seem to be confused. As a lifelong cat person, I can tell you that you are the pet and the cat the owner. Besides that, you might try giving her a treat to help. Still, most cats prefer to do their own grooming and their claws are their defense mechanisms. Cutting their claws is an insult to them. I once was forced to have one of my cats declawed to be able to take him with me to a new home and it was awful. I will NEVER do that again. Good luck is all I can say.

lol you could try, but yes it would be a waste of time.
I see her sitting there looking at you intently, seemingly absorbing every word you say, and then I see her flitting arrogantly away as if to say "humph, I don't think so"!
The fella who said "cats have staff" couldn't have said it better!
If you can afford it, you could consider taking her to a vet or pet groomer to have the claws trimmed and a good brushing done. But of course she'll give you the cold shoulder for having the effrontory of having it done when you know darn well she doesn't. After all didn't SHE make it quite clear she wasn't interested in that stuff?

Sit down with your cat and let her exlain to you that cats are humans too, they just happen to have fur and walk on 4 feet!
On a more serious note, some cats just hate brushing. THe best I can tell you is try to get her while she is sleeping. If you're lucky, you can get most of her brushed by then!

You don't really think you are the boss do you?? Cuz I swear I just saw this very same question in reverse asked by Miss Mrraooww about you....giggle "Is it a waste of my valuable time to TRY and explain that HELLLOOOOOO I'm in charge here... Did I ever give the impression it was going to be any other way? And why is she wasting time asking a question like that when I'm awake and am not being paid attention to??????? HISSSSSSSS!" I swear I just copied that and pasted it here...might want to check your computer for possible misuse...

most vets offer this service for a low fee (nail trimming)
which is better if a proffesional does this because if you are cutting the nail to short it can be painful to the cat. My cat hates to be brushed and my husbands cat loves to be brushed. i think that one is just personality. With mine i use a lint roller and do swipping as fast as i can. hope this helped good luck and remember actions speak louder than words.

My cat knows that I'm the boss of him. You really have to start them young & be consistent. No matter how many times he squirms away, I pick him up & keep trimming his nails. Resistance is futile. Usually a treat or two will help as well. Once his nails are short, it's easier to retrim before they get to be talons again.

For the most part you're right;and; you're wrong. I don't want anyone trimming MY nails. As for grooming a cat will do that herself. Stimpy agrees. As for whos boss?, they only LET YOU think you're in charge. I mean; TRY keeping a perfectly behaved kid out of a fresh puddle of mud. Can't fight Nature and expect to win.

It not a waste, but I can think of several thousand things I'd rather spend my time doing. Cats have the tendency to do what they want to do, when they want to do it. They don't really care about who you feel should be in charge. You would have better luck talking to a stuffed animal then convincing a cat to listen to you.

Yup, cats are way different!
Definately a waste of time and effort. Dogs have owners, Cats have a staff! Very alloof creatures, and they dont believe in taking orders! In their world its "MY WAY... no highway option"
