I got one of those crappy credit cards that charge outrageous fees in order to build some credit. How long do you think it will take in order to become eligible for a better card?

I will answer your question: You asked how long! That depend how your credit is, if you have clean credit with no problem you only need (6) Month's with those crappy cards like, Cross-county, Aspire, Crap ONE, Merrick Bank etc. If you have damaged credit you will need a few years of on-time payment history, in some cases you made need 5-6 years to get a quality card such as Citi Bank, Bank of America or Amex. They want to see a solid history of responsibility...and that is exactly what credit is..responsiblity!

Good Luck!

pay off your debts on that card then cancel it
make payments early
pay extra on them
find out if your bank is a credit union- they take better care of you
ask for a credit building loan - $500 for 6 months
don't pay it off early - pay within the six months their goes the start of good credit wait about 4 months and ask your bank for a
credit card $500 limit you'll most likely get it , make sure it's under your name only no co-signer .
Hope this helps.

Check your credit report on a quarterly basis. Once you prove that you will make on-time payments and your credit score increases, you can ask for more perks from the company.

Check your credit score. If it's high enough, apply for a good card and cancel this one.
