Nathan is #20 on the ss# list of popular baby names of 2005.
I love the name! I was a teacher before staying home with my son and there was only 1 Nathan in the school so I don't think its that popular. Congratulations on your new baby!!

I don't know any Nathan's so no, I don't think it's too popular :-)
I actually like it very much so. Alexander on the other hand is very popular. It's nice with Nathan, but still pretty common. How about:
Nathan Andrew
Nathan Aaron
Nathan Oliver
Nathan Reese
Nathan Elijah

In 2005, Nathan ranked 21st and Alexander ranked 18th of the top baby names in the US. So yes, it is very popular and chances are your son won't be the only Nathan in his class at school.

I think Nathan Alexander is a beautiful name. I'd go for it. Also, people tend to look at the child after its born.. and can just say.. Yes... Thats a Nathan Alexander. :)

I don't think Nathan is as popular as it used to be. Plus if you live in a smaller town there aren't going to be as many- if any- kids in his class with the same name. But I grew up in a small town and graduated with 5 other Ashleys. If you and your hubby like the name then do it :)

I love the name Nathan! I've heard of boys around here with that name, but not too many for it to be extremely popular to the point I would avoid using it. It's common, but not TOO common, ya know! Go for it! I love it!

I like both names , but not together
I think a long name should be followed by a short name
like Nathan James, Nathan John, but he will be your son so you should pick what you like best & not what others want you to pick.
best of luck to you, your hubby & baby
