Oooooh! Lots of goodies come to mind. How about cheese & crackers, your favorite pickles, fruit (several kinds should be available in the stores in London or your own hometown), bottled soft drinks (the hotel will probably provide ice free of charge), fruit juices, teas & coffees, boiled eggs(cook at home, peel & eat at the hotel) GOOD fresh bread (butter may be available at breakfast - save some) fresh vegetables that will make a good salad (most would not need refrigeration). These are all things that you could bring with you in a nice tote bag without looking like the bargain shopper in the hotel lobby. Don't let any of these other answers intimidate you about staying at home if you can't afford to eat out. Sometimes we have to travel whether we like or not, and sounds to me like you are doing it the "smart" way. Even if you chose to take a trip on a budget, it's not anyone else's place to criticize that.
I raised three children on my own. To keep them from being denied the pleasure of going places we took along our own food many times, often being more nutritious than what we would have bought at our destination. Since you say you are going to London, I assume you live in England and this is a short trip for you. I am a U. S. resident from Arkansas and would love to be going to London for the weekend! Hope you have a great time. If you have room to pack them, put in some pretty plates and some elegant goblets to enjoy those snack foods. Make it a pretty picnic and you'll be proud of yourself for saving money and enjoy your weekend more too. Have fun!

Egg and onion sandwiches are cheap to make up and keep fresh if made up last thing and wrapped in baking foil. Bake some pastries of get mum or auntie to bake something yummy for afters. What about packing crisps and yogurt or fruit. Home made rice pudding and baked apple is really filling.
Have a nice time.

When at breakfast grab as much fruit as you can and if they have croissants grab them too, use the plastic bag from the ice bucket to put them in to stay fresh! Then go to the market on the corner (there is usually one on almost every corner) grab cheese and meets and maybe some french bread. Don't forget to also grab utensils while at breakfast too!

If you have a fridge in your room, buy some cold cuts, canned pasta, precooked entrees, hotdogs, condiments, and bread. Make sandwiches. Buy chips, soda or juice, and plenty of fruit. Buy plenty of candy bars too. Buy canned food, bring along a can opener, and bring microwavable bowls and plastic utensils. With a fridge or a kitchenette in your room, you can cook a whole meal if you buy a few groceries. Easy.

Packets of cheese, smoked sausage, [the kind that dos not need refrigeration], peanut butter, crackers, cans if Vienna sausage, tuna, cookies, dried fruit, just make sure not to pack fresh fruit,or vegetables, it,s illegal to bring or take fresh produce from one country to another[ they charge a huge fine for doing so!!]Have a great time, and remember McD is every where, not great food, but always cheap.

Granola bars! These are excellent for travelers. They are slow to digest, so you aren't hungry very fast afterwards, need no refridgeration, tasty, snackable, portable and help you get the nessasary fiber that is so hard to find whilst doing so much eating at restaurants. Regularity serves travelers well!

Jacobs Cream Crackers, any kind of biscuits, fig biscuits especially are good. Little tins of fruit, peaches and things, you don't have to keep them in a fridge and they make a scrummy breakfast!

If you are going to London worry about getting your things stolen, you will look less wealthy if you are hungry ,so bread and water will be perfect.
