I am going in for an ultrasound of my liver tomorrow. My blood work showed that my AST is elevated but my ALT is normal. I am a moderate drinker, not an alcoholic by any imagination. I am 32 years old. Should I be worried about Liver Cancer or Psoriasis?

Is there a history of it in your family?......
There is always a possibilty but its more likely a way to rule it out.
Don't worry until you have a reason to......Good Luck !!!!!

One of the first symptoms of hepatitis is elevated liver enzymes. Get tested; it's a simple blood test. Alcohol will cause AST's to be elevated. Also, 40% of people with hep c (or b) have enzymes in the normal range. I would imagine a good doctor will do a hepatitis panel when there are elevated liver enzymes present. Best wishes to you.

Because your liver functions are off does not mean cancer or sclerosis, it could mean you have gall bladder trouble or even your diet needs to be re-evaluated. Maybe something as simple as a good vitamin will help your levels. Hang in there and don't worry until you hear what the doctor has to say. (psoriasis is a dry patch of itchy red skin)

maybe not that it is cancer but you should stop drinking,I had liver surgery 1year ago but i don`t drink never had they took half of my liver to remove a mass(tumor) it took 7hrs of surgery they told me if they had left it in it would have turned to cancer.something you need to think about is does cancer run in your family or is your drinking to much for your body (liver) to the point where you can`t digest the alcohol like other people.
