The best places are the small mom and pop type shops. (at least that's what they are called in the south)
These resturaunts are usually owned by a family and make very tasty food from their culture! :) Sorry I don't remember names--but we would just go in the smaller unknown resturants and they were always great!!!
If you are going with a family or big group go to Carmine's for Itailian food. The price is a little high---but everything they serve is for an entire party. So when you split the meal and ticket it turns out very cheap. You just have to agree on one entree. (Which I will say Chicken Parmagian over angel hair pasta!) It is a must stop whenever I travel to the city! Location: Time Squareish and another in upper Manhatten.
And get some Popcorn Indiana from Times Square. Believe me---You need to get this! :)
