I use Mercury and they are pretty good. After someone hit me and dragged my rear bumper off my car, they made sure I got my car fixed pretty quick even though later it was discovered that the other guy's insurance had run out.

The one that meets your specific needs the best. Find an independent agent that isn't connected to any one insurance company, give him your information and the coverage level you would like to have, and he will search for the best, for you, deal.

Forget brand names. Get full coverage and no deductible. This is the most expensive and the best insurance you can buy.
I have had bad luck with Farmers, expensive and slow to get involved. I have had great luck with Liberty Mutual. Quick response and great prices. They reduced my premiums on their own and recommended changes to my policies that saved me additional money.

state farm. they are the largest. they will back you in the event of an accident. whereas other smaller companies will deny claims. they may not be the cheapest but in my opinion they are the biggest and best for customer satisfaction. beware a low rate from other companies, they will increase it after you are insured with them.
