Don't drink so much beer, wine, and liquor. Each contain plenty of calories per serving or ounce. So take it easy on with these. If you are gaining weight from beer, stop drinking for a few months and get moving instead. Cut back on food and eat healthy. You'll see it come off if you're patient. Good luck.

Beer has additional calories that you otherwise would not be taking in. Say there is 120 calories in a beer and you have 8 beers. That makes almost 1000 additional calories on top of what ever you ate for lunch, dinner etc. Also alcohol slows your metabolism thus making you burn less of the calories you took in for meals.

Alcoholic drinks have a lot of calories. Definately drinking a lot of beer can cause weight gain. I would stick to light beers and then only in moderation.

Beer has barley and yeast, both of which can add both calories and carbs to your diet. Also because it is alcohol, it is not absorbed as quickly as water, thereby just sitting there in your belly region giving you a "beer belly". Follow up beer drinking with your favorite activity that will burn calories *wink* and you'll be fine.

You're getting fat because you are consuming more than you burn off. If you want a beer but are worried about calories, check out our beer calorie guide and choose a lower calorie alternative: http://www.united-nations-of-beer.com/beer-calorie-guide.html

Beer in itself isn't hugely calorific, calorie wise its much better for you than milk, however thats only if you have the odd pint, if you go out and neck 8 pints, then unfortunately it will start to have affects on your waistline - plus, the nibbles that always follow a session on the lager doesn't help either. Grabbing a pizza/kebab/curry on the way to the taxi rank certainly doesnt help matters!
