I have cable hooked up in my living room. I want to somehow put cable in my bedroom also, but without having the cable company come out and hook it up. How would I do that, and is that illegal or considered stealing cable?

It's not stealing if you're already paying for it. Doesn't matter how many cable outlets you have. It's just the labor of installation if you have the cable provider install it. Too many cable outlets will eventually decrease the signal strength to the point of it being unwatchable, that's when you should call in the cable company to provide proper amplification.

Usually the only extra charge is the second box.
So if you are already paying for cable, you should be ok.
The only problem is that your channels on the second TV will be limited to what it can accept. Older TV's are 2-13 only. Some newer TV's are "cable" ready, and you will have no problem.
You will need a splitter, and there may be a little loss of signal, maybe a little fuzzy, depending on how far the extra cable is run.
AND make sure the splitter is split before it goes into the cable box - not after - or you will only watch what is on the living room TV.

You can buy a splitter to hook up the other TV. You will have to run your own line and have another coaxil cable too. No, I don't believe this is stealing cable. You are already paying for the cable, you just want it in the other room. I mean, you can run your own phone line in another room without the phone companies help, so why not cable? Good Luck!

I think it is stealing cable if you install another outlet and use it. But, I think you can get a splitter like you do for your phone and just connect it to your cable in your living room then run a long cable from their to your bedroom.
The drawback with the splitter is that you will have to watch whatever is on the cable box in the living room.

Dude...do yourself a HUGE favor. Call the cable company and have them install the additional outlet.
It will be less expensive for you in the long run.
If you end up needing additional signal to supply the new outlet, a good installer with a signal level meter will be able to tell you if you need a house amplifer or not. (on average..you can have 3 to 4 tv's from one cable drop with no problems)
It's really not that expensive. You'll pay 3x as much going to the big-box store buying wire, tools, and connectors to do the job right.

You should check with your local cable co, but if you are paying for service hooking it up in a 2nd, 3rd etc.. room is not stealing.
