I need your help please. Which is more correct to write:
1- He couldn’t make a stand in one of the rival camps,for he admired both of them.
2-He couldn’t take a stand in one of the rival camps,for he admired both of them.

Make a stand or take a stand?and why?

Take - making a choice between two options is to take a position on something, or take a stand. Make a stand would mean to actually construct some sort of booth. In your example, the person is having to make a choice of which side to represent, or to take a stand and and stand up for his opinion on whom to represent.

I'd say number two. He couldn't take a stand. Make a stand implies doing/creating not choosing. Good luck!

Both are correct. It all depends on how you're going interpret "stand". A physical stand, such an object, or a mental stand.....It all depends.
