I knew a girl who named her cat dog. Well, what about Gantry.
Gentle. Bantry. Catry. Sentry. I had a cat and named her flower. A few days later I was playing a Neil Diamond song (this was in the 70s) and he used a word "Muzzy." All of a sudden the cat turned around and looked at the speaker. I replayed the song and she did the same thing again. So, I changed her name to Muzzy. A few months later I learned that a Tuzzy Muzzy is the name of an English flower. I called her Muzzy, fuzzy Muzzy. She developed diabetes when she was 12. I had to give her insulin twice a day. She lived for another 3 1/2 years.
Just pick a name you like and one that won't be a silly one. I hope you and your new friend have a long and happy life together.

I'm sorry for your loss of Gentry. A good place to visit to help you with your grief is
http://www.petloss.com/
You can post a tribute to Gentry there. It takes awhile, but it will be put in. I did it for my pets.
This may not be what you want to hear but maybe you should give your new kitty a totally different name, so you can let go of Gentry.
For some weird reason, I keep thinking of the name Josie. I have no idea why, but it just popped into my head. Good luck.

How about Esther? She was a queen among ladies of the Bible, literally. Strong and self assured. She's going to need those strengths to compete with the memories you have of Gentry.

Ask ur cat.
Make a list of all the names you like and read down the list. See how the kitty responds to each name.
I did this with one of my cats. I had a list went down it then said Sasha and she mewed. Then i read the rest of the list and said Sasha again... she mewed again. Went through it a 3rd time and the again mewed with I said Sasha.
It fit ehr PERFICTLY and she picked it.
Go through the names slowly and pause after each name. Look for a happy loving reaction or a Meow. You may find the name it makes you choose is just prefect for its personality.

How about Sebear? In Spanish it means, "to inspire love in"
That way you can honor Gentry without the pain of using his name.

Why not call her "The Mrs." You can pretend she was married to Gentry and now you are both widows. She would understand I'm sure.

Pets always seem to name themselves. We ended up naming our cat Libby, but we call her Booger more than Libby, because well, she's a little booger.
We've also named cats Bungee and Velveeta.
Name it something like stormy, or something because she's grey. If you want a cute girly name, something like Molly, Lizzie, Libby, Katie, etc. would be good.

Stormy, because you lost Gentry whom you loved and are in a stormy place in life and because white reminds me of clouds and the dark grey reminds me of stormy skies.
