Is it true that christianity was first seen as a cult by the romans?

Probably was. The term "cult" is not like the social name that we have ascribed to it now. When we think of the word cult we think of dangerous kool-aid and huge bombing stand-off and mass suicides. The term cult is just a gorup of people who share the same ideology. Just like with the term "gang" it is ascribed to drugs and law breaking.

Christianity does come from the Romans, not sure about the cult part though. It comes from roman Catholicism, so quite certain about that

It was a cult. It only became established as a religion when the Romans decided to utilise it for their own political ends.

The Romans did see xianity as a dangerous cult. In fact I still see it as a dangerous cult, one that is accepted by a whole lot of people, but still a cult none the less.

The Romans viewed Ceasar as a God so I think it would be natural for them to view any other religion as a cult or a threat.

yes a cult they thought would fizzle out, then out of respect 4 the Christians that they put 2 death in violent and inhuman ways in their Colosseum's, they converted en-mass 2 Christianity.
respect 4 thousands, possibly a million Christians meekly praying, fed 2 the lions, tigers and burnt as human wicks, 2 light the " games ".
barbaric practices that they put behind them and in respect 4 the legacy of Jesus.
