They are sad, angry, confused, frustrated and no matter what they do life just seems to get worse for them. When I look into their eyes, they look dead on the inside. I have several catholic friends and besides being catholic, this unhappiness is what they all have in common. I feel bad but I do not want to be in their presence anymore as it brings me down. What can I do.

JP, I do not look down at my friends I am genuinly concerned. I am a very happy person that goes out of my way for them. Why are you so defensive? Because coincidently they are all catholic? They themselves blame there religion on their unhappiness. I don't. I just wanted to know if there was a way to help feel better. Obviously not, thanks.

u can do ur best 2 help them thru their issues. if it is related 2 religion, our association wid God is only supposed 2 fill us with empowerin understandin so somethin is up there an that needs 2 be sorted out (feel free 2 mail me 4 help if th@ is the issue)
whatever the issue is u can do ur best 2 help out, and if u try 2 help out, do so wid faith.
if they decide they cannot help themselves and it is gettin u down, the healthiest thing 2 do is 2 leave them, @ least 4 a while.
throughout any of the choices u make in helpin them, u must keep as positive as possible and always have the INTENTION to help, not just actions. in this way, ur intention throughout was 2 help, and u would hav done so 2 the best of ur ability.

Just pray for the presence of the Holy Spirit. The true joy comes from a personal relationship with Jesus--not a religion or tradition.

Their being Catholic may just be a coincidence. I'm Catholic, and probably one of the happier people I know. Why not ask them, since most of us here don't know them.

It really doesn't make any sense that your friends would be sad and unhappy because they are Catholic. Unless they had an abortion and feel very, very guilty about it. That must be it. Tell them to go to confession. I, personally am a very happy conservative Catholic. I love, God, my family and my country!
Happy Thanksgiving !!

They the life changing of the Holy Spirit. They need to have a real relationship with Jesus - relationship - not religion.

JP is correct. Maybe you have a problem and are just projecting it on them as an excuse.

Get off your high and mighty horse and stop looking down on them and stop seeing what you want to see?
If you genuinely see this in ALL your Catholic friends ... perhaps it is YOU who are this way and are mirroring it onto others to avoid admitting your own issues?
