Your children and the children of your husband's cousin are second cousins because they have the same great grandparents. There is a much more detailed description of how to determine the different relationships between cousins (first, second, third, etc.,) as well as the terms "once removed", "twice removed", etc. at the following web address:

Hope this helps.

It has to do with the number of generations from the common ancestor and if the people involved are of the same generation or not. Assuming that the new baby's parent is your husband's first cousin, that is, his or her parents are your husband's aunt and uncle, your husband's cousin's children are his first cousins once removed. They are your children's second cousins. Hope that helps.

If your husbands cousin who just had the baby is your husbands first cousin, that would make his children your husbands seconds cousin. The relationship between the children would be third cousins. And so on. If the husbands cousin is his second that would make the children your husbands third cousins and the relationship between the children fourth cousins.
Hope I could help

Children of brothers and sisters are first cousins.
Children of first cousins are second cousins.
Children of second cousins are third cousins.

It continues. You probably have a million 12th cousins; their children and yours will be thirteenth cousins.

When you go "up" or "down" a generastion the degree stays the same but you add a removed.

Your father's first cousin is your first cousin once removed.

Your father's second cousin is your second cousin, once remeoved.

Your grandfather's first, second and third cousins are your 1st, 2nd and 3rd cousins twice removed, since he is two levels "up" from you.

Your husband's cousin if probably his first cousin. Than makes the baby his first cousins, once removed (they are "down" one level from him.) That makes the baby and your children second cousins.

You can go to extremes. I work with a fellow whose 5th great grandmother was Daniel Boone's first cousin. He is Daniel Boone's first cousin too - but seven times removed.

You haven't given enough info to accurately answer that.
Let's say your father has a brother, your uncle. You and your uncle's children are first cousins. One of your first cousins has a child, that child and you are first cousins once removed. Then you have a child, your child and your first cousin's child are second cousins.

you would all be cousins.

the baby would be your husband's second cousin (so long as the parents of the baby are his first cousin).

the baby would be your children's third cousin.

it just goes in generations when it is this type of realtionship...I hope I have it right...that is how my parents always explained to me (and we have large families).

2nd cousins. I don't know why though, that's just the term I've heard for that.

Depends, are your husband and his cousin 1st 2nd etc.
assuming they are first couisin, (his fathers' or mothers' , sibling kids)
your children would now be 3rd cousins to your hubby's 1st cousin.
your husband become 2nd cousin to that cousins child.
Clear as mud?...hope it helps
