God had specifically told Noah and his family to spread out and fill the earth. In rebellion, probably under the lead of Nimrod( first human dictator) The people began to cluster into cities, instead of spreading out. The tower was built to make a celebrated name for the Builders and to keep them from spreading out. Actually God did not destroy the building. His confusing the languages effectively stopped the work, and caused the builders to spread earth wide. Genesis 9:1 and 11:1-10

Genesis 11

The Tower of Babel
1 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. 2 As men moved eastward, [a] they found a plain in Shinar [b] and settled there.
3 They said to each other, "Come, let's make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. 4 Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth."

5 But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building. 6 The LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."

8 So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel [c] —because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

According to the narrative in Genesis Chapter 11 of the Bible, the Tower of Babel was a tower built by a united humanity to reach the heavens. Because the hearts of men were said to be inherently evil and disobedient, they were striving to make a name for themselves instead of worshipping the God who created them. Because of this open defiance, God stopped their efforts by confusing languages so that the builders could not understand one another. As a result, they could no longer communicate and the work was halted. The builders were then scattered to different parts of Earth. This story is used to explain the existence of many different languages and races.

Because the people of Babel were trying to build a tower that reached all the way to Heave so God destroyed the tower and gave different languages to people so it would never happen again.

According to Genesis 11:1–9, the Babylonians wanted to build a tower “with its top in the heavens.” Angry at their presumption, God disrupted the enterprise by confusing the languages of the workers so that they could no longer understand each other. The tower was left unfinished and the people dispersed over the face of the earth.

God commanded mankind to "go forth, be fruitful and multiply. Fill the Earth and subdue it". He didn't say "Everybody stay in one place and proudly and arrogantly build a tower of worship to a false god"- which is what the Tower of Babel was.

i trust for that reason, the Tower of Babel replaced into destroyed by god because contained in the tale i imagine it replaced into being outfitted to spite god and say guy is larger which in idea is a criminal offense adverse to god because in lately mankind replaced into meant to worry god and by no potential instruct too a lot delight so progression the tower replaced right into a insult to him so he took the tower down The vacation mission besides the undeniable fact that in a experience replaced into made now to not insult god yet to appreciate him more effective by exploring his creations so he did not strike it down

They valued unity and human efforts more so than obedience to the word of God, and faith in God's plan.....we find ourselves often doing the same thing in the modern age!
