My boyfriend and I are thinking about staying at one for New Year's. If anyone has been to one, do tell me all about it and if you liked it. I found a really beautiful one (it seemed romantic) but I don't really know what goes on there. Do you just go, relax, sleep, and eat breakfast? It's basically a hotel with breakfast right? Or do they offer activities. I want it to be a really special/romantic weekend!

Typically, B&B's strive to provide a quaint atmosphere with a feeling of exclusive privacy and relaxation. They are usually small facilities, catering to only a handful of patrons at a time. Some places are set up as small cottages for just one couple, others can house two or three couples at once. There are usually not any activities offered by the facilities as the emphasis is on couples enjoying their privacy and relaxing together. Many B&B's have garden areas and paths or gazebos that visitors can enjoy, some may also have small reading areas.

A Bed and Breakfast can certainly make for a special and romantic weekend. It's nice to get away from the usual hustle and bustle of typical hotels and enjoy some peace and quiet with a homey feel, but definitely do your research! Some B&B's are really very nice, others are not worthwhile.

Have Fun!! :)

They are almost all family run and quite small compared to a hotel. No, activities are not usually on the menu - literally bed and breakfast and some offer you tea and sandwiches on arrival. Most good ones however will have leaflets and info about what to do in the area and will advise you themselves. it's really a place where you can talk and chat to the owners informally. They don't really expect you to be there in the day however. Most now have ensuite rooms too. check that it is a distinguished one if you are intent on staying in it. Personally, I would rather a hotel for a romantic time as you can do more and are freer.

Where did you want to go. Where are you living. I know of a fantastic guesthouse in Jersey Channel Islands called Sabots D'Or. It is a 15 century building, very old worlde. They do B&B and dinner. It is in a lovely harbour area of Jersey right by the sea. I wish I could go. But I haev already had my visit there this year. Enjoy

My husband and I (ha how royal) love staying at B&B's. We often choose one for our anniversaries. There are a bunch of websites out there, look based on where you are interested in going. They tent to be more romantic than active, although if you want to find activities in a specific area, then look for a b&b in that area, that has worked for us.
Take a bottle of bubbly, candles and buble bath and find one with a tub big enough for two.
Then enjoy.

Go and stay at The Saxonia Guest House in Weston Super Mare. It's run by a pair of nutters.
