You should log onto www.armycadets.com. This will give you a good idea of what it is like, where they are etc. It is a good idea to try it out in the cadets to see if you enjoy it before you join the armed forces, as there are no strings attached, and if you don't like it then you have not committed to anything big.

If you think you might want to join HM forces then joining the cadets is your best option at the moment.
Not only will it give you an idea as to what the military is all about, it'll help you decide whether the Army is for you.
I joined the CCF at the age of 13/14 and stayed there for 5 years rising to the position of Regimental Sergeant Major and I can honestly say that I had the best time of my life with the cadets. Not only is it another social scene but you get to have a laugh on and off the training ranges whilst learning the skills of a soldier.
If you do decide to join the Army, being a member of the cadets will look good at interview;it certainly did for me when I went for officer selection.
On the other hand, if you decide the Army is not for you (it's not a lifestyle suited ot everyone) then it still looks good on your CV when you apply for a job as a civilian as it shows you have had experience of team work and leadership which most applicants haven't.
I would definitely recommend that you give the cadets a try, from what you say you'll probably have the time of your life. Visit www.armycadets.com to find your local unit.
Good luck to you fella.

I joined the cadets back in 1984 & I still remember my time as enjoyable. It teaches you respect and discipline, the type that can't be taught by your parents. I never joined the army so I cannot say how it relates to it, but a few of my friends at the time did and they said that being a cadet helped them adjust better to the discipline.

Follow what you want and keep you eyes open, that's the best advice that I can give you. Good luck and be safe if you decide to join.
