Been there, done that. What people don't seem to realise is that eating food is an addiction. The only problem is that we need to eat to survive, so unlike booze or cigarettes, we can't just go cold turkey and not eat! Alcoholics can't touch a drop or they'll start drinking again. Dieters have to eat and that's the problem.
It's alright eating diet breakfast bars covered in chocolate, but then you think, 'One little square of Cadbury's won't hurt' and before you know it, the whole bar's gone. The only way to stick to it is to have a willpower stronger than any alcoholic, smoker, junkie will ever need. If we don't have the willpower, it just isn't going to happen! And like you, chocolate is always my downfall.

The problem with most diets or diet restrictions is that all you can think about and crave is what you can't have. If you don't want to eat chocolate (a.k.a eating a little just ain't going to happen and you'd rather avoid eating the entire bar and then some in one sitting) then don't buy it. You're going to want to so, when you start thinking about chocolate, drink some water, maybe go for a walk around the block, run up and down your stairs a couple of times. Just distract yourself and try to focus on something else. Or, if none of this works. Try a chocolate substitue you allow yourself to eat a little of, like a fudgsicle or some cocoa puffs. They're not quite as highfat or calorific as real chocolate and might help satisfy your craving. And maybe, let yourself buy a single chocolate bar at the corner store to enjoy slowly for as long as it lasts. If you can make it last the whole week, eating a square a day, good for you. Don't let it be your reward though. Just something that sits in your fridge like everything else that, maybe if you're really in the mood for, you'll have some of.

I've tried so many times to give up chocolate and the most success i've had is when i allow myself just a little bit each day or week.
Try allowing yourself one chocolate bar a week for a treat. I always used to have a snickers on a Friday (snickers is by far the healthiest choc you can buy) and i'd look forard to it.
Or try a small amount every day, a friend of mine buys the mini packs of smarties and has one box a day. That way you feel like you've had the whole lot (as opposed to eating one square of choc a day which is hellish as you know you've got an opened bar in the fridge which is far too tempting!)
You could also try replacing choc for other sweet things such as dried apricots or raisins! Good luck!

Don't give up chocolate and don't tell yourself you are bad when you eat it because then you will feel guilty. Instead eat it when you want and try to be open minded to wanting and craving healthy foods as well.
Chocolate boosts serotonin - are you feeling bad when you go to it - if so, try to deal with the issue that is making you go for the chocolate.

Buy a lot of sweet, healthy foods that you enjoy eating and try to avoid having chocolate in the house. This will discourage you from eating chocolate and encourage you to eat better foods. Try to avoid places where you might be tempted to eat chocolate...you know, how people quit smoking

You need self discipline. Eat a small square of chocolate everyday and just limit yourself to that. Each time you want something chocolatey, eat something more healthy that tastes good too! If you really just can't help that habit with what I said, buy fat free or sugar free chocolate. And don't go in the kitchen just because you're bored.

Just don't give up chocolate. Tell yourself your allowed to eat 1 chocolate a day(buy a box of chocolates). It will work... you will appreciate chocolate even more because you are eating less of it... and you won't crave it as often.

You can still eat chocolate and eat healthy! Make it Dark (the darker the better) and just eat it one piece a day if that, maybe every other day. You can be healthy and eat crappy foods once in awhile :) If you stop you will want more and more but if you give yourself one piece it wont make you crazy!

Stop trying to deny yourself all the things you like. A bit of chocolate every now and then is fine - just make sure you eat plenty of the good stuff too.
