I've asked this question before but I think it was misinterpreted. People were telling me I had bed bugs, but that's not the kind of scratch I mean. While I'm sleeping I somehow scratch myself pretty bad. It's always on my face, and they are always kinda deep scratches. It's not that I itch when I'm sleeping but I scratch my face and leave marks. At the moment I have three scratches on my face. This has happened all my life but recently it has gotten worse. Again, I don't mean I itch all night, but that I actually leave marks on my face that are scratches.

I eat, walk and all kinds of things in my sleep, I understand your feelings. Trim your nails, wear a pair of socks on your hands. Good luck and quit scratching. :)

wow, sounds like a nasty sleeping habit......ever tried wearing gloves to bed? You can get really thin ones made for keeping hands smooth, but they'd also block your nails from scratching your face? Just a thought....I didn't see your original question, but have you seen a doctor about this? If it's been happening for years, maybe there's some kind of underlying condition?

you might try wearing gloves when you sleep...I know it might be uncomfortable for a while but it beats scratching your face.....and tie your hair back out of your face it could be tickling you in your sleep and you are unconsciously trying to remove it from your face and leaving scratches....I used to cut myself in my sleep..never on the face but somehow I would stab myself with my thumb nail and leave deep gouges in my legs....I had good success with wearing gloves. Good luck.

I don't know what causes it unless perhaps you have very sharp fingernails and sleep with your hands near your face? You could prevent it by putting socks on your hands while you sleep, or maybe mittens.

Try wearing cotton gloves or likewise on your hands when you go to bed..if need be, tape them on so you don't remove them
