You have the absolute right to have the vehicle repaired at the shop of your choice. It is illegal for an insurance company to require you to use a certain shop. They can recommend a shop, but you have the final say!!!

Tell Geico "where to go", --- and it isn't body shop "C"! .. It would be good to get a couple more estimates, if you have lots of shops available around where you live, - you will then will get an idea of what it actually should cost to fix your car, -- Both "A & B" could actually be estimating low! You can then present these estimates to Geico too! After which you take it to "your choice", not theirs! The only quarrel they night be able to back up, would be if the shop they want you to go to is a large difference in cost, --Make sure that they are using "new" parts, not used parts, - as the difference between the two could be quite a bit! Not that used parts are nescesarily bad, but if you compare "apples to apples" you will see what the cost actually is! Also if the car is farily new, you want new parts, -- but if it is -5-10 years old the parts will still be about as new as the car (used).
If they persist in "fighting" you,- give the "state insurance commission" a call,- and tell them what is happening, - they may have a talk with Geico, after which they will be "glad" to accomadate you!

You can go anywhere you want to have your car fixed. Are you sure that GEICO isn't just recommending a shop, or having you take it to a shop so an adjuster can do the estimate?

You may be hearing what you want to hear....you have the right to have your vehicle repaired ANYWHERE. That includes Billy-Bob's Bondo Barn if you choose. GEICO has staff appraisers and will inspect and write an estimate for you most anywhere.

the insurance co. has no right to tell you where to go. i've had GEICO telling me where to go as well, but my acquaintance who owns several body shops, said this is illegal.
