Because all three religions consider Abraham as a patriarch, a great prophet guided by God.

All three religions consider Abraham to be a prophet. It is also the prophet at which Islam splits from Judaism and Christianity. Each religion believes that they are the inheritors of the Abrahamic promise of prosperity (spiritual and physical).

Abraham was the uniter of the Jewish people. From the Jews came the Christians, who believe that Jesus was the foretold Jewish Messiah, and the Muslims, who consider Jesus a prophet and who are, like the Jews, still waiting for the Messiah to arrive.

All three groups accept the Torah (called the Old Testament in Christianity, though I'm not sure what it's called by the Muslims) as the base from which their religions grew.

Because of fables of the God of Ahbraham that had no name, and Moses, Jewish son of Pharoh who found that God on a mountain and thus the Hebrew nations became a nation of the Jewish faith as given in law to Moses by God of Abraham on the Mountain.

Jesus was Jewish and worshiped this same God and thus Christians incorporated this into their belief system.

Islam has bits and pieces of the Jewish faith and of Jesus and there is a debate on this, just as the Jews debate Jesus as the Messiah.

Without truly knowing Linguistics its hard to fully debate these issues.

Islamics say Allah is the Aramatic term for God and thus they say it is the same God and the God of Abraham that has no name (Jews, by the way, will NEVER say God or Jehova or Yewah nor will they write it, they will call "God" the CREATOR or write it as G-d, because THEIR GOD has NO NAME, no moniker, no Avatar)

The problem here is that the Aramatic of today is vastly different from back then, as is Hebrew and Greek. These are all dead languages and as a result translators have varied views on what terms and phrases mean in written works.

So, the Islamics lay claim to this, just as the Christians do.

The Jews and Islamics view Jesus as only being a human prophet.

The Islamics DO give their God a name and write it out as Allah.

So, all these views DIFFER vastly and don't meld into belief systems, BUT all three claim their linage from the same God of Abraham.

Christians, however, actually go back further and worship the God of Adam and Eve, the CREATOR, although the Jew probably will not disagree with that defintion nor will they distance themselves from it.

Islamics might have some issues with going back that far, it's hard to say as I haven't explored their belief system that deeply.

So, the "claimed" roots are the same but the practises and belief systems are radically different!

Abraham is at the root of all three religions. They are all offshoots of Judaism.

The sad thing is, all those people in Asia, whose history and religion far predates Abraham, are just spiritually screwed, because they're not Middle Eastern.

God truly does work in mysterious ways. You would think he would have sent his messenger to everyone in the world, and not just those guys in the desert.

But, hey, who cares what I think right? I'm just a stupid atheist.

Because all three religions call to believe in Abraham's God.

Because Abraham became the father of Ishmael (supposedly all Arabic people decended from him), and Isaac (who all Jewish people believe they've decended from). So, naturally, Christianity is concidered an extention of Judaism, so we're Abrahamic too.

They are all believers in the Abrahamic god and are supposedly descended "spiritually" from him. They are all also called "religions of the Book."

Salam!

Because Prophet Ibrahim or Abraham (peace be upon him) had 2 sons, Isma'eel (Ishmael) and Ishaq (Jacob). Mus (moses) and Isa (Jesus) were from the family of Ishaq and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was from the family of Ismael (may allah be pleased with all of them).

That's how they are Ibrahimic (Abrahamic) faiths.

Seek the truth, (God Wiling), you will find it!
