Can I use my UK Maestro card to withdraw money from ATMs in New York City? If yes, do all ATMs accept maestro or only selected ones? Do shops in New York city accept maestro chip and pin?

Also know that they charge fees here. Not all banks do but most. The UK changed their law to not charge ATM fees to their customers.
You should check to see if your card is accepted at the ATM. If not then you'll have to find another credit card that the US takes. I use my Commerce ATM card across the ocean and it's fine. I know you dont' have Commerce Bank there but the ATM machine takes it!

When you go to an ATM, check to see if any of the logos (on the back of your card) is also on the ATM. If it is, you'll be able to use your card at that ATM.
