i have heard this anti-tank anti-aircraft weapon is so lethal it can knock out any present and future desighned tanks made up of any armour, it can even shoot down low flying helicopters from a distance of 5 km.the kornet was used on the abrahms tanks in the first few days of the iraq war though in only few numbers destroying three tanks.it was recently used on the isreal v lebanon conflicts destroying several merka tanks.so is there any tanks in the world that can take a direct hit from a kornet missile and still remain operational?

the kornet is a third generation rocket and is the successor of the ***** and the konkurs rockets
The capability of the rocket is to penetrate about 1,2 m of massive steel or 4,5m of concrete , also it can coop with the reactive armour (ERA ) .
The guidance of the rocket is done by a laser so it is possible to lock on to a slow and low flying target.
I must say it can penetrate 1, 2 m of steel but this is not the same as the modern day armour of a MBT witch is a composite of different materiel's in different layers ( choppenham armour ). Against this kind of armour the penetration is must less but it seams to me that a direct hit will penetrated the tank.

don't know much about Cobham Armour or the depleted uranium shell of the Abrams but the Kornet Missile has been around a long time so I would assume (hope to God) the USA has some sort of counter to the tandem HEAT warheads by now. Never found any news about what tactics Hezbollah used to destroy the merkavas but I'd assume they would have disabled them with the kornets rather than a single direct hit on the turret or glacis blowing them up.

This missile isn't nothing special. It doesn't have anti-air capability as it is wire guided. The armor penetration capability is very good and is designed to penetrate reactive armor as well as steel. It would be interesting to see the system against challenger 2's Chobham armor or Leopard 2's armor and see how it holds up. 1,200mm armor penetration is annoying but not unstoppable a possible counter measure is spaced armor plate the Germans used this in WW2 to defeat hollow charge warheads like this missiles warhead.

Their is always a better mousetrap.........
I'm not up on the specs on this missile. However, I've never hear d of a anti tank / anti Aircraft missile? They do one or the other. Not both......
All tanks have weak points. If you find them, you can defeat them.

The only thing this missle cannot destroy is a loud mouthed liberal democrat speaking about the joys of socialism.
