There are already women in the army. There is no draft in North America, only volunteer army. If there were a draft, everyone should be considered equally. Oh and check out the link below if you've the cahoneys.

Short Answer? No.
Long Answer? No, and here's why; I've been to Iraq. I've seen plenty of bad *** chicks that can pull their own weight and more. We're not all, combat Barbies (girls that wear make-up to run missions), and for the most part we don't ask for help. We know that as females we have to do twice our share of work to be taken seriously- so we do it.
BUT I've also seen chicks who join the military, and skate by, relying on the males in her platoon to do all the work for her. If you're in the military you know what I'm talking about; the kind of girl that sticks out her chest, bats her eyes and smiles to get what she wants. And to the disgust of the rest of us; some people let her get away with it.
I'm from an MP unit and I'll tell you very simply how we handled girls like that; When we went into Iraq- they went into HQ platoon. They stayed inside the wire, they didn't have to run missions and they definately weren't afforded the opportunity to pull a "Jessica Lynch" and get people hurt.
Now, not only am I against the draft of women, I'm against the draft period. If I'm in a combat situation I don't want some a$$hole that got drafted to be watching my back. I want someone who joined the Military of their own accord. Someone who takes pride in their country and takes their mission just as seriously as I do.
Let's get $hitty here for a moment; The majority of American's are not ready to see women coming home in body bags. I've heard people argue that as "life givers" we have no buisness getting our lives taken away in combat. Now, I don't know about you but that sounds an awful lot like they're saying a womans life is more important than a mans, does it not? I don't agree with this argument; but it's true all the same that a lot of people feel that way. And it's for that lame excuse that women won't be drafted.
Not because we're not capable, or strong or fast or smart or whatever, but because people can't except the idea that their societies young mothers might be blown up. It's ok for men to go and killed for their countries, but women should stay at home in the kitchen. It's Bull$hit and it makes me sick- but it's the truth.

Well if everything was equal then yes. But its not. They can't hold all the same jobs in the military as men do, and there are no top officials that are women in the military. I know there are some higher ranking women but never making the big decisions. So, if they make more women General's and let them start making some decisions in how our military is run then yes! Till then I say no! Oh and there will always be women saying I wouldn't go but there are always just as many men who they would go either.

I suppose so.. I would rather volunteer though.. but pregnant women can't join, and neither can dual citizens (without a bunch of legal crap I don't want to deal with) which are the main reasons I haven't.. Despite that fact, the draft has been abolished for quite a few years, so it really isn't that big of an issue now, is it?

You are speeking of the equal rights amendment that some women are fighting for. If that amendment is ratified then they will be able to be drafted. You can't have just some equality. Thats like saying "everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others".

Mr. and I were talking about this subject the other day. You are so right about equality and us women wanting it.
Got to take the bad with the good. In other countries the women have to serve just like the men....I personally would hate to go but I bet there is guys that do not want to go either! Plus I am a little old, I think?
My Mr. has been there seen it and done it and is done with it lol!

The question is not "should they be drafted". The question is "should they pay income tax"? "Should they drive cars"?
"should they participate politically i.e. vote, elect and be lected"? I am sure you will say YES, but it was not always so, women had to fight (and still do) for equality in all spheres of life and serving in the military is just one of the many things equality should be practiced. By the way, serving in the military does not
assure their equality in the service but that is another subject.

Oh, I know, draft the women, too, so they can do the office/support work (not being sexist, they're not allowed in combat MOS's but can do admin and even mechanical stuff in addition to medical), while the men pencil-pushers take their happy asses out and do some work. Hey, it would minimize sexual harrassment in the workplace since the men would be in the field!!! That makes it closer to equal op AND a secure work environment.

I was in the U.S. Army for 4 years and I have never said, I can do anything a man can do. I know I can't run as fast, lift as much, or do most things men can do. Women will never be drafted, its just not the way things are run in the U.S. There will never be a draft anyway. Not with all the brave young men and women going in voluntarily.
