I have windows Xp SP2, in power options the option to enable hibernation is checked but when shutting down windows i have stand by option displayed and no hibernate appears! paradoxically , when i was using windows mellenium hibernation was possible but not stand by!?

Hi!

Really simple...
Choose Shut down... and when the dialog appears, hold down left shift key... voila..

go to desktop,
right click on desktop
click properties,
goto screen saver tab(click on it)
go to power section( click on the button)
go to hiernation tab (click on it)
select the check box labeled enable hibernation
click ok
click ok
to hibernate u must hold shift in turn-off menu if you can't see the button. the hibernation will apear in the standby one

U hv 2 press shift when shutdown window is displayed.

hold the shift key and standby changes to hibernate...found out by accident

i dont recomend using it but it sounds as you have done everything right have you checked the poweroptions to see if its enabled there
