I am trying to restore deleted programs via system restore, but after running through the sequence, no go.?

Yes, I am trying to restore deleted programs via system restore. I go through the sequence, the computer shuts down as it should, but then I get a pop up that says restoration has failed. I have used proper start points for this but still no go. What am I doing wrong?

Have you gone to safe mode and done system restore from their. It might work from safe mode.
