Hi,

What is the difference between:

Boxlock
Semi-Auto
Pump Action
Semi Auto and Pump

They are all types of shotguns. What are the differences please?
Also, in the UK, I believe Pump Action shotguns (under a shotgun license) are restricted to 2+1 shotshells.
How does that work if the magazine only takes 2?

Thanks.

Oh dear alex. :( Your obssession is a little worrying. Without wanting another death threat.. what do you intend to do with said shotgun (s) if you get hold of one? When i was 16 i was obssessed with girls and music and my mates. You really need to get out a bit more. Make some friends or join the army :)

well i' not a shotgun anorak, but isn't a pump action such as the remington 1100 (great pigeon gun in 20 gauge) classed as a semi-auto? and a boxloxk is a type of action for a break-open gun where the lockwork is contained within a box-shaped housing. Boxlock's are much better to a sidelock because although more metal needs to be removed from the action body, less wood needs be removed from the head of the stock and wood is generally more vulnerable than metal! The Anson & Deeley boxlock, patented in 1875, the simplest, most reliable and most successful action design, is identified by two pins spanning the width of the action, one at the bottom rear and one slightly forward and higher, upon which the sears and hammers, respectively, rotate. there hope that helps!
