Get him a Mattel Vidster Children's Digital Video Camara ($70). Here's the description from Radio Shack:

"This digital video camera is specially designed to put your child into the director's seat. The Vidster Digital Video Camera has simple operation and its shape is ideal for small hands. The included muvee™ software lets you make vidoes and then sync them with your favorite MP3s. Plus, with the flash memory storage, there is no need to mess with tapes or DVDs. Lights! Camera! Action!"

If you want to read the specs, go to:

But you can't buy it online from there, hence the ClickIt link above. Also, if that Muvee software doesn't cut the cheese for your son, you can tell him to try Jahshaka, an open-source video editor with all sort of neat effects.

I have tried a number of editing programs and keep coming back to Pinnacle Studio plus...dead easy to use and quality and output are great - currently using Version 10 and it cost about £60. As for camera don't know what is best but I have a Sony handicam digital HC18e and it does me great - just did a pals wedding with it and he is delighted with the DVD's I presented him with.

He's 9YO? trust me, just get him a cheap, "brand-less" made in China videocam, it still works very well, not the best video quality though. But still easy n simple n good. If you're the guardian over the cam, you can invest in good quality videocams, e.g. for family functions. Try comparing the Canon price, i think it's cheap.

And as for the software, anything will do, u have Nero...or anything u like. Personally, I downloaded the trial version of Blaze Media Pro here at http://www.mystikmedia.com/download/setup_blazemp.exe and then went to http://www.freeserials.com to get the crack file for it, so I'm now using $50 product for free. Yippy.

For video editing I use Video Studio 9 - (The new version is 10) - I find it easy to use and great results - You can download a copy from Ulead's site and try before you buy.

google for green show screen studio kit and are available to a determination if ebay, or a service provider, to get a studio setup. Or residing house depot (for paint aspects and a heavy drop textile) would charm to your video artist. the ultimate type would be like a putting roll that hides the horizon.
