Hitting anyone is wrong. It is the lack of quailty parenting these days that makes the new generations think that it is more acceptable. It is not, and never was.
I would like to point out the fact that some girls hide behind the no hitting thing though. They think that they can do whatever they want (including hitting a guy) and they still are safe from being hit. I would never support hitting a girl out of anger, but I look at it a bit different. You should never hit someone that you think is too weak/or small to fight back. Taking advantage of your size or strength to physically harm another person because you know that they can't fight back is wrong. This applies to guys and girls. If I were a big, muscle bound guy...then I shouldn't hit small guys and I shouldn't hit girls, for exactly the same reasons. Additionally, if I was a big, muscle bound girl (use your imagination), then I shouldn't hit small guys that weren't as big as me.
It has nothing to do with gender...it has everthing to do with not hitting smaller, weaker people (unless of course you are defending yorself).

Its never right to hit anyone . Its also getting more and more common for girls to use violence against their boyfriends as well. We've all seen the cops programmes showing girls using violence against men and women. Im not trying to take away what your saying but its seem to be the norm nowdays for both sexes to use violence at will. Its a sad reflection of society today and some indivduals seem to have learned nothing from their peers about respecting one another . Look at the growing violence against teachers in schools these days and also violence by young people against there own parents. Your question suggests that you are concerned about these ill's of today and we need more people like you to always question these issues.

Hell nah that sh*i ain't acceptable. Ask a police offficer. He will tell you. The only people more accepting are the victims. I had an abusive boyfriend, and abuse goes on as long as you let it. And oddly enough, not too many people offer their help. You almost have to call the police. But as long as the girl is willing to leave, and stay away, it usually works. A restraing order is useful, but it depends on the guy too... If he is really crazy, that's bad.

It certainly is not getting more acceptable. Nor is it getting more prevalent. You hear more about such abuse because women are coming forward more often to take back their lives. And so they should. The days of the big macho domineering husband or boyfriend are long gone. No woman should put up with the abuse - mental or physical. If fear ties them down, then go to the nearest Spousal Abuse Center. If you have to, you can always phone 911 for help.

men are more disrespectful then they use to be. if my man ever hit me that would be the end of it and him. its not right, neither is the girl hitting a man who lives a relationship hitting ech other....it doesnt make sense. i think more and more women are becoming independent so the men are freaking out, they think they need to show you whos in charge, anyway its the wrong way. id make sure i knew the man before i got into anything and make sure you both agree on the hitting rules...

I would hope that is not the case as there is so much media informing people of abusive relationships. Young men especially should be aware and it should be taught in schools that this is unacceptable. If this type of occurrence is happening now in the youth generation then it will only explode once they become adults. Inform your girlfriends that they do not deserve this humiliation, regardless of what their boyfriends say, and that they should be informing the proper authorities if their boyfriend continue this after they tell them to stop.
