No worse than train spotters i'd say, but not the sophisticated ones that have laptops and electrically heated bobble hats, they're gods amongst (very say) men.

Sorry, But i don't know any, so you'll just have to ask them if they are?
Oh, unless you mean those in Scotland (today - Nov 14th) who went there to view the strange visitor from the Pacific. Before most go there it was attacked and eaten by a Kestrel (I think it was). So, those 'twitchers' are likely to be sad and pissed-off as many had travelled hundreds of miles to see this visitor to these shores not seen in the last 30 years.
'Twitchers' is a nickname / euphemism for a certain type of bird watcher, the type who get 'twitchy' to 'must see it.'
Sash.

I worked with a bird watcher once and asked him what the point of it all was. He explained it so well that I asked him if I could come out with him one morning. In that three or four hours I saw birds that I did not even know existed and others, like the green woodpecker, the greater spotted woodpecker and the tree creeper, that I had never seen before. I have not done it since but it was a thoroughly enjoyable and informative morning. Must dash, the 6.15 mail train is due to come through our local station in 55 minutes and I've got to get my anorak dry first!

No. Whilst most of us are stuck at a PC, they're out in the fresh air enjoying themselves. You don't call that sad !

No I don't think so - at least they are taking an interest in the world that we live in rather than TV, cinema and dance clubs..

No, because they are not doing any harm to others.
One example of sad people is soccer supporters who engage in violence, or perhaps people who insult others needlessly. Think about it, pal.
