What is the minimum equipment I would need to be able to copy VHS to DVD? I want to copy from VCR & camcorder (Super8, HI-8, and digital).

afterdawn.com is one good place to go to for advice on this question and any questions pertaining to video. Pinnacle is good too, but basically just a company and not diverse enough 'advice'. When you start looking for DVD recorders, cards, USB devices, etc., videohelp.com is one of the best places to search products and get reviews from people that use them often. When buying the items, I like to open up ebay and have my search open. Then open up videohelp.com and epinions.com simultaneously. That way you can look at an item on ebay, copy the name (model number only needed), paste it to videohelp and see if it is any good. Then check it in epinions (or any comparitive shop site) and check on the lowest price. This way you know if the item is any good, the lowest price out there for it and you can bid with confidence on ebay - all at the same time. Give it try.
As far as transferring VHS to DVD, always best to go with a standalone DVD recorder and a seperate VCR - combos suck. There are USB devices out there, but ya never know what you are really getting. There some great ones out there, but they are spendy. So, my opinion would be to: VCR to DVD recorder using SVHS cable if possible. Then, use a good video card like a Haupaugge or a Canopus to get it to your computer for editing (if you are doing that). Have fun!
