Lets say you meet this guy, he's rather young, and seems quite naive at first. Not that bright actually. Not very outspoken and seems reserved.

You later find out he has a 90%(4.0 GPA) average in post secondary. He has an abundance of life experience. Not only that, he's been tinkering with the stock exchange, acquiring a bit of money. His political/philosophical/ and even emotional discussions blow you away. To the degree that you end up phoning him at 2am in the morning about the discussion prior that day.

So Mr. Dumb, is actually Mr. Smart. Would you think he was being devious and somewhat conspicuous? Or he was just not showing all of his cards, feeling you out?

Being intelligent does not mean you have to flaunt it. He may just have a reserved personality and have some sense of modesty. Actually, I like this guy! It's refreshing to know some guys don't play the "I'm all dat and bag o' chips!" thing.

Some people have common sense and some don't. My brother and I got through school and life with common sense. My older sister is massively book smart but we've always said she was dumb as a rock. She has a few college degrees and continues educational classes even now (she's 39). She's now learning Italian and job hunting in Italy. Once when I was pregnant she asked to borrow a tampon DUH She was actually surprised when I told her pregnant people dont have periods.

Depends. How is he with other people? Is he the same with everyone? maybe upon meeting new people he holds back because he doesnt know them well enough yet to be himself. Many people are that way. I know when I first meet someone I dont launch into some deep discussions on philosophy or science. I wait until I am comfortable enough with someone before I attempt to bore them with my high intellect and wisdom.
