If you had an unnatural experience where you sensed something paranormal or the existence of a soul departed, would that help you think that God existed in a more knowledgeable sense? What is it to exactly know anything here on earth in our human state? I always thought senses were what we used. So if someone you have met has experienced, has sensed afterlife and they tell you that they have, do they know it or would you call them a liar?

Contact with the afterlife....I've had a few experiences with my Mom and stepson after they died....if THAT'S real, then I have no problem accepting the existence of God.
There will always be skeptics, but they're the types that could have their dead mother appear in full form in front of them and they still wouldn't beleive it...they'd just question their own sanity!

Your scenario would not prove the existence of god, only that spirits are real and that there may be an afterlife. Those two factors alone would not prove a supreme being.

Proof of a supreme being would mean actual intervention by a god. Which god, I don't know as there are thousands of personal gods to choose from (this is like saying the US is a two party system when, in fact, there are dozens of political parties). This intervention would need to be global, and witnessed by many at the same time. It would need to be documented by non-biased individuals and would need to be substantiated by more. It would need to happen multiple times in order to reduce chance that it was a natural phenomenon.

At that moment, I would believe that there exists a god. And even then, if it were the Christian god, I would refuse to worship it because it is not a loving, forgiving, all-knowing god.

If I had an unnatural experience, I would wonder who spiked my drink - It would not be proof of God's existence... You ask what proof I would need - I would need to be perfectly sober and coherant, and would have to meet him face to face. Then I would beleive...

Let me ask - if you had some unnatural experience in which you were hit by a bolt of lightening and suddenly Thor appeared, apologiozed for being a bad shot, and gave you your life back - would that convince you that Thor actually exists? Of course it wouldnt - so why are you asking me the same thing??

No one anyone meets can say that they have experienced the afterlife and not be lying about it. As for sensing it - thats a whole other story - senses fail, humans perceive and interpret things differently. Still, not proof.

Interesting question. No, I don't think it would take much to convince me that a god exists.

Consider for a second, yourself. I don't know you, except by what you posted here. Yet, I believe that you exist. My guess is that you are not a god. By the general definition of "god", I'd think they are a bit more capable than you.

Yet, no god has, of yet, convinced me that he exists. I would think that if you could convince me that you exist, a god would have no trouble. Yet I'm unconvinced. So, either there are no gods or any gods that exist don't want me to know they exist.

So, I'll just leave it to the gods to figure out how to convince me they exist. If you can convince me you exist, it should be no problem for a god to do. I don't even have to figure out what would convince me, because I'm sure any gods that exist would already know what it would take. I'll just be here ready to be convinced.

Any gods out there want make yourselves known?

(Hmm, guess not)

I know a lot of god believers - many in my family. They have dreams and "experiences" with god. I would never be so cruel as to call them a "liar."

If I had an unnatural experience, I would make sure it was GOD and not the dozens of other explanations that might account for it.

What evidence would I need for a god? For the bare minimum, his "holy word" wouldn't conflict with reality and itself.

Good question. I would have to have solid proof somehow. Just because people tell me I should believe a book(the bible, koran, etc.) is the truth I am just susposed to believe it? That just doesn't make sense to me. I would think that I would at least have a feeling that it was the truth but I don't. I usually don't tell someone that what they believe to be true is wrong but their belief does'nt make me believe.

Personal experience is not proof of anything on the grounds that it is completely subjective.

Show me God

As Albert Einstein said, show me his thoughts, the rest are details..

If a burning bush talked to me I might believe, but I'd still investigate.
