When I got my kitten back from the vet they had given her too much antidote to the anaesthetic (she is really small!) and she was very hyper. She started to pull at the stitches and when I tried to put the collar on her she went ballistic and started throwing herself against the walls. The collar stayed on for precisely thirty seconds! I just played with her and distracted her and eventually she got tired and went to sleep. Over the next day or two she licked and tugged at them but I just kept an eye on her and dissuaded her if she was getting too enthusiastic. Eventually they stopped itching and she was fine with them. They were a bit difficult to remove because she had been tugging at them but the vet gave her some antibiotics and she was okay. It sounds like your vet hasn't been very helpful, maybe you could think about changing if you're not happy with things. I hope your kitty will be back to normal soon - didn't take mine long!

An e-collar is the best way to go. I think your vet's statement is ridiculous, but in any case you can buy an e-collar yourself at a pet store (and it will probably be nicer than the ones the vet has). Yes, the cat will be annoyed by it, but it's only for a couple of days. It's much better for her to be annoyed than to cause an infection by licking and possibly pulling out the stitches. I have an e-collar I bought when one of my cats had a skin problem and I had to keep her from licking the medicine I put on her...it has a padded edge around the neck and is clear so she can see through it and not feel like people are sneaking up on her. I have it stashed with the other cat supplies, should I ever need it again.

I had the same problem with a cat, she pulled out the stitches and she had to have the area re-stitched, then she had to wear a collar, rather like a lampshade! It worked but she did her best to get the collar off!
Good luck

My kitten has just been spayed too. She has the collar on and it is driving her mad but i think its a case of persevering - she is getting used it and has only pulled it off twice.
I would go back to the vet and get a collar for your kitten, better that than her stitches getting infected.
I hope your cat is ok....my cat is really upset and sad about it. I feel really guilty. :(

locate out the initial reason behind this an infection. making confident she has sufficient water and perhaps a particular weight-loss plan may nicely be necessary. Urinary tract infections can take position in both sex. If she is peeing on the floor, the an infection remains there. The anit-biotocs take 5 days to take perfect effect, and also you should finish the route. once you're taking her decrease back to the vet to get her stitches out, make confident the vet checks her again for the an infection and ask for extra anti-biotics to sparkling up the an infection thoroughly

When we got our female cat spayed, my mom had the vet put a bandage on it, like an ace bandage. It went all the way around and was pink. The only thing we had to do was change the bandage and keep it from getting infected. See if your vet can do that for you.

That is a stupid thing for the vet to say, of course he should have given her a collar. Change your vet.

One of the guys that answered you said put a bandage on your kittten, thats a good answer you'ed only have to change the bandage and lets face it youve got to go to sleep at night and
it would stop the kitten pulling the stitches out.
Best of luck.
