I have a high level of anxiety, paranoia, and stress. I don't want to get on high powered medication. Is there any kind of herbal or natural suppliment I can take to help with my problem?

Well, couple of things. First I've a few years of experience with several different anti-anxiety medicines and antidepressants, and when you say "high powered medication" I am assuming your concern is that the medicine will turn you into a spaced-out vegetable... not so, at least most of the time. I've found medicines like these to be subtle, they're designed to lessen the anxiety without muting you. If your anxiety is severe enough that you're looking for help believe me, you won't find any kind of over-the-counter solution. Treating clinical anxitey with prayer or valerian root (which is used as a sleeping aid, not for anxiety) is totally ineffective. If you're serious about this you need to go to your regular doctor and ask for a referal to a psychologist/psychiatrist, ask your doctor about anxiety, you don't have to do anything they tell you to that you don't want to do, but try going to the experts who went to school for 8 years for stuff like this rather than the hippies. Good luck.

You can treat anxiety in a number of different ways, and contrary to what the last poster said, there are extremely effective ways to treat anxiety without the daily supplementation of a prescription drug for the rest of your life.
Talking with someone you trust on a consistent basis about your notions of anxiety will help you alot. The problem with a psychiatrist or a psychologist is that they will almost immedietly suggest that you start using drugs, which is not the answer to your problem.
A teacher of some sort, or a trustworthy friend or family member is a good place to start. A martial art teacher would be outstanding for you to talk to about your anxiety, if you had a good relationship with him as a student. You also need to exercise more often, preferably 7 days a week. good luck

Spiritual healing through prayer or positive meditation help alot. Deep breathing during panic attack helps alot. Learn to feel through your hot times and what triggers them, then you can develop coping skills. Nature works wonders so does a good healthy lifestyle.

Try Valerian root. It smells bad but has a relaxing restful property. Also why not try meditation. You can find great relief with a little practice.

St. John's Wort, Vitamin B6, KavaKava root,......But I do think that you should talk to a professional. Also- calming teas with chamomile &/or passion flower. STAY AWAY FROM CAFFEINE!!
