She should have asked you for id to compare the name on your license to the credit card.
I agree that it was stupid for her to compare the 2 signatures then. But, at least she got you to sign the card. This way, if you loose your card, it will be slightly more difficult for someone to forge your signature. Without it, anyone could have picked up your card, made a signature for your name and used it.

Good times....went to Wal Mart very late one night (about 3 am) and was picking up some stuff for my new apartment. Spotted a nice CD player bookshelf stereo and asked the clerk for one in a box. She said it was the last one and I qualified for a discount being it was a display model. Price was $320.00. Discount was 10% = $32.00 right? She did the math, (her brand) and the grand total was $129.00. I questioned her about this, being the basically honest guy I am and she got annoyed with me and suggested that I take it up with the night manager. He agreed with her math. Any wonder why businesses are failing left and right?
I did buy it at the discounted price by the way...

And just what was your question?
If I had been the clerk, I would have asked for your DL and compared the picture with you.....and compared signatures. If you did not have those...then I would have voided the transaction. Can I ask why you had not sgined your card in the first place?

The clerk is suppose to ask to see an identification with your picture on it (e.g. drivers license) if the back of your card is unsigned.
I have often wondered if I signed my purchase Santa Claus and it went unnoticed....it would...if my purchase is then free?

Haha.. That is too classic. On my plastic cards I have PLEASE SEE ID, You would be so surprised how I never get asked for my ID. I think people think if you are only spending $25 or less it isn't a big deal. It is a big deal... $25 or less times unlimited is alot of money!!! My money!!

I am in retail too and this cashier did the right thing,
It is either she would be written up (there are cameras!)
or be fired.
It was a very little problem for you.
The cashier was not the idiot
