You really can't stand children can you? You must be getting around the wrong children, I know many and most are not like you described at all.

contrary to what kitkat and a few others have to say there is no need to hit a child. Hitting only teaches hitting and violence. Some parents don't discipline their children from the very beginning. They give their kids everything;televisions, computer, game systems without the child acutally EARNING them. Then when the child misbehaves, gets into trouble they resort to taking these things away whcih typically makes the chid angry and more rebellious. The easisest method is rewarding positive behavior. Make all the un necessary things in life (televisions, game systems videos, stereos, computers) priveliges and when the child behaves they EARN that privelge for a time. In our house my daughter would earn an hour of television or videos when she was younger. as she got older we threw in the computer, stereo and telephone time. There was no televsion/computer in her room until SHE worked to pay for her own. Consequently we never had any real behavioral problems with her, yeah during puberty there were a few smart mouth moments but she wouldn't earn her privelges so she behaved.
This method is a heck of alot better than setting a kid up to loose by giving them things and then taking them away because the child doesn't behave (giving the child the message that they are a loser) and much better than spanking (teaching a child that resorting to violence is the best way to solve problems)

Children are products are their environments. If they are yelling and screaming they probably see their parents do that or they are yelled and screamed at. You need to see beyond the child to realize why he or she acts the way he or she does and that problem is an example of the disadvantages that parents and their children really have.
However, I think it's unfair to make an umbrella statement, basically saying all children are ill-behaved and are addicted to computer games. That is not true. There are many advantaged children who have the luxury of having attentive parents that do not suffer such problems.
Do you know of a way you can help these children? Instead of getting frustrated with their behavior, you could use the option to speak with their parents to explain their behavior or try to encourage other behaviors in the children yourself.

Children are the way they are now because of outside people telling parents how to raise them. You can't spank or discipline them without having the DFS breathing down your neck. If you don't give them everything that the kid next door has they run away and report you as a bad parent. I blame most of their problems on parents that are to afraid of what everyone else thinks of them instead of what is best for the child and they don't get involved and ask questions about their children's lives.

It's called spanking their bottoms! You are in charge they are not! If you do not get this behavior under control then you never will.

If you are talking about older kids then it's too late, you have to deal with not being the parent when your children were young.

Talk to them, spank take away priviledges, you are the parent not them. Make them listen to you. Good luck
