Heart murmurs due to congenital defects will lead to stunted growth and premature death.
Significant murmurs in children are more likely to be caused by:
patent ductus arteriosus (PDA)
atrial septal defect (ASD)
ventricular septal defect (VSD)
coarctation of the aorta
anomalous pulmonary venous return (an abnormal formation of the pulmonary veins)
In older persons, some heart murmurs can be caused by:
mitral regurgitation - chronic
mitral regurgitation - acute
mitral stenosis
aortic regurgitation
aortic stenosis
tricuspid stenosis
tricuspid regurgitation
pulmonary stenosis
pulmonary regurgitation (backflow of blood into the right ventricle, caused by failure of the the pulmonary valve to close completely)
Such persons will suffer from heart failure. The underlying cause should be detected and appropriate surgical procedures adopted.
Please see the webpages for more details on Heart murmurs and other sounds.

Nope. A heart murmer is just when the valves in your heart dont shut completely, and some of the blood flows backwards. this has nothing to do with growth at all.
