I've worked in a fish market for 4 1/2 years (and I love it but that aside........) I strongly recommend either orange roughy (sweet, cooks up almost pure white) or sole fillets. Be sure to buy fresh from a fresh seafood counter. Don't be shy about asking staff what fish is the freshest and take a sniff if you want. For preparing either of the above mentioned fish, try a breading of flour, then beaten egg, then seasoned breadcrumbs. Pan fry in a mix of oil and butter until lightly browned. Don't over cook. Top with fresh lemon, salt, pepper and perhaps caper berries. You'll be surprised how delicious it is!

I really do not like fish either either---Except for Tuna fish from the can or Fish and Chips but my mom makes orange Roughy that she soaks in milk and grills. It is really good--I even eat it. I do like to put a little lemon juice on it. I have also heard that Tilapia is really mild. And Whitefish is another good one.
There is a restaurant that I like to dine at that serves a fish dish that I really want to try but I'm chicken....it is parmesan crusted and baked. Sounds yummy---maybe try something like that where there are other flavors to cover the fish taste.

Tilapia is a whitefish that is very mild. Try breading the fillets and pan-frying or baking them.
Remember, the fresher the better! (Which is why I prefer sushi. It's always fresh, and raw fish never smells or tastes as fishy as cooked fish, for some reason.)

I am in the same "boat" as you are...Last year I decided that I really needed to start adding fish to my diet- but I really do not enjoy the smell or really "fishy" taste of most fish dishes...
So...I've tried lots of different kinds over the past year and I would say that your best bet is tilapia...It's definitely my FAVORITE...doesn't have that "fishy" taste and most places usually have it now since it has risen in popularity!

Can not go wrong with salmon, and look it is salmon season :0)
There is many different kind of fish depending on where you live is if you can get it fresh....ask your local grocer... Cod doesn't really have a fishy taste, I think anyhoo...
Love fish... yes fish is very good for you as well....but you can buy the fish oil in capsules.

Here are a few suggestions:
Salmon steaks are great when barbecued with lemon juice and ground pepper. If they are still too fishy for you try sprinkling them with white wine before cooking them.
Trout is fantastic. My personal favorite is trout pan grilled with garlic and butter.
Stay away from catfish. No matter how you cook it it will always taste a little muddy.
Swordfish---- Oh how I love swordfish!
Tuna steaks. Do whatever you like with them, but be prepared to pay a high price for them.

Orange Roughy is a very light fish that does not have a strong taste. Make sure you buy really fresh fish to avoid a fishy smell. If you can smell it when it is raw, then it is not fresh.

Orange Roughy has the least amount of odor. It can be a little pricey. I like Halibut too. Lemon juice will remove the fishy odor. I usually bake fish with lemon juice, a little garlic, butter, salt and pepper.

Tilapia. It isn't fishy and will adapt to whatever seasoning you use. I live by myself, so often times I will take tilapia, little bit of olive oil, and either herb du provence or a cajun seafood blend and wrap it up in foil. Bake it in the toaster oven and I have dinner in 15.
