What is the membership cost and length and do you think it was worth it? How much are the items discounted? And are these the same items you can purchase in the store and not a cheaper version?

Depends on your location and your bargaining skills.
Direct buy is a nightmare, marketing gimmick.
Do an online search to those who have joined, I beleive it is rare to find someone who does NOT regret it.
I went in for an "appointment", I could swear some of the other potential 'customers' were planted by Direct Buy.
Do the reasearch for your self, im sure you'll get an answer your questions including thier notorious rep for out of stock items and outdated catalogs.

I have never tried it, But is has been my observation that they are giving the same prices that you can get at the Big Box Home Improvement Centers AND charging you a fee.
