Yeah, I got my daughter a special pewter ornament engraved at Things To Remember for her first Christmas. My daughter was 4 1/2 months for her first Christmas, I remember getting her a couple of outfits and some things that we would use, like some different bottles with characters on them, and bowls and spoons for when we started with baby cereal. Also a nice soft fleece blanket, in pink, girly cuz she had all neutral ones at first. I really don't remember what else she got. Some music cds, you could also get things she may not use now, but will a little later. Like one of the ride-on/walker toys from Fisher Price. Or some puzzles.
I just remembered, she got a toy phone (v-tech brand) that rings and plays songs and lights up and says "hi baby" and "bye bye baby". She loved it, and still does to this day at age 2! Definitely something I would suggest if you don't have one already. They have all sorts of those out now, my daughter also has a pooh one that's a little different.

I have 3 little boys, youngest will be 8 months old this month, and this is my suggestion... anything that she can play with in the floor. A Leap Frog piano, or pretty much anything that lights up and makes noise that she can play with while sitting, or lying on the floor. You might also want to consider getting some sort of table that's is made speciafically for children that are beginning to stand up, since she will be doing this soon, if not already. Just about anything that makes a lot of noise works!!! But be prepared... it will bug you to death! :)

Leap Frog makes an "Interactive Learn & Groove Musical Table". My son got it when he was one, and already walking (but he still loved it). I really wish we'd gotten one when he was 7 or 8 months and still pulling to standing. It's got fun stuff to tinker with and will help her practice standing. I think it's around $40 and she'll use it for 6 or 8 more months!

My daughters first Xmas we spent about $30. She'll never remember and trust me, your family will get everything she could possibly need for the next year!
Just put her in a cute Xmas outfit that morning and take lots of pics of her with the bows on her head.
You are the center of her world and that is all she needs right now.
Have a wonderful holiday with your baby!

Get her a small toy, or something to play with, but everything else would be things she needs - clothes, shoes, etc.
Another fun thing is a wagon, if you don't have one already. She will enjoy going for rides in the neighborhood, especially this spring when the weather is better.

You don't need to get them anything. Maybe a "baby's 1st Christmas" ornament. You can continue to get an ornament every year and then when your child moves out, they'll have some ornaments to start with on their tree.

My daughter loved the Fisher Price Learning Home around that age, and still does (she's almost 18 months now).

A teddy bear
A new outfit
A pair of shoes
A Baby doll (if female) or Tonka truck (if male)
A pair of tickets to the Radio City Christmas Show
A movie that s/he likes
That's all I can think of...
